The Nag's Head
The Nag's Head really is a blast from a none-too-distant past...but not intentionally. 80s décor coupled with beer-stained carpets and 'mature' regulars transport you right into the era of Thatcher's Britain. The presence of Del and Rodney would be all it takes for the Nag's to live up to its name. But this gives this hidden gem its gloriously cosy authenticity. The wide selection of local ales helps too. Itchy went on Tuesday's quiz-night. Not really one for those after a quiet drink and rattle off a few easy-peasy questions on the side, though. Think Eggheads minus the waspish annoyance of C.J. Probably one to try if you're in York for a week or so...it won't make-or-break your visit. But all in all, a cracking little nugget off the beaten track.
