Barbican Centre
Whilst Leeds still struggles to get the big names to play, York has the likes of Level 42 and Sophie Ellis Bextor begging to boogie at this sports centre that doubles up as a gig venue. Ok, you may be thinking that the line–ups are no great shakes but old smoothie Bryan Ferry managed to shimmy his way here, and I'm sure I saw Jools Holland in his bathers when he last visited.
