Cracking pub next to The Barbican, with a fine beer garden for summer time alfresco action, and open fires and large Sunday lunches to comfort you through the frosty months. Popular with a collection of jovial locals, skiving students and alcoholic post–grad 20–somethings thanks largely to the fit bar staff and that it's one of the most likely pubs to find former members of once indie darlings, Shed 7. It's also worth knowing that The Vic is Jules Oliver's – Mrs Jamie Oliver – favourite pub in York –ok that's not very interesting, but it is a true story.
