York Racecourse
The best flat racing course in the land by a country furlong. You really can't beat a day scouring the bookie's odds and lounging in the sun with a few pints, as the horse you picked because of the jockey's snazzy jersey casually trots round the course checking out the scenery. The posh end costs between £25 and £40 but if you don't have a hat, and don't mind slumming it with the hordes of pissed up Geordies, you can get into the cheap seats – well there aren't actually seats – for a fiver.
