Peyton and Byrne
If you can't afford a Eurostar ticket but departure lounge chic and nice scones push your buttons, make a trip to St. Pancras' Peyton and Byrne. Situated in the station's main arcade, the café can get a little chilly, but if you don't mind sitting in your coat, there's a fine selection of freshly-baked sandwiches and sweet treats on offer. Worthy of special mention are the cupcakes, with their 50:50 sponge to icing ratio. Itchy imagines this little gem would be hell in rush hour, but it's perfect for a leisurely Sunday afternoon tea.
