The Almeida
If parting with fifty quid for a musty velvet seat makes you want to vomit all over the unflinching box-office assistant (that's why they're behind glass), The Almeida might be the refreshing theatre experience you need to restore your faith in stagecraft. Edgy drama, dry British wit, off-the-wall romances and even the occasional podgy-cleavage-free opera. The Almeida has the best of modern theatre at about half the price of its glitzy West End counterparts. So, no need to dodge your own indignant stomach splash-back.
