Pulp "Sorted
for Es & Wizz"
What lyrics define that post festival feeling better than Jarvis Cocker’s “Mother, I can never come home again, cos I seem to have left an important part of my brain somewhere, somewhere in a field in Hampshire." When Itchy climbed into the car, a little weary and mud splattered after a recent festival, this Brit pop number was playing on the radio and it fitted our mood PERFECTLY. You might think the talk of come downs is a little dark so soon after the party, but Pulp’s tongue is firmly in cheek and as the guitar kicks in for the chorus you think to yourself “Oh go on then, one last time”. So Instead of crying into our soggy sleeping bags and vowing to live a life of purity, our twisted inner hedonist decided that we should get cracking organising our next festival. Jarvis will be top of the car journey playlist.
Cocteau Twins "Aikea - Guinea"
Itchy might be busy organising our next party but that doesn’t mean we don’t want a little mind massage in between. After a weekend of hedonism this is the perfect soother. Understated and ethereal, it's a song Itchy often listens to, to make us feel better. It will totally capture you, slip you out of your muddy clothes and make you feel totally cleansed. The perfect theme tune to the end of a festival, it is quietly epic and will have those in the back seat reaching for the nearest hand or nestling on the closest shoulder, a real moment to share.
The Roots Featuring Joanna Newsom "Right On"
The whimsical echo of Newsom's voice mixed with the hip hop beats & rap provided by The Roots is a good chilled head bopper. Newson’s original lyrics have been slowed down, chilled out and given a haunting edge. Perfect to listen to sat back in the car, window wound down and the last of the setting sunlight on your face, reminiscing about a beautiful festival weekend with a smug little smile of contentment on your lips. Three minutes to have for yourself. Forget the tiredness, the come down, the socks you’ve been wearing for three days, just sit back and nod to the beat.
Ms. Dynamite "Dy-Na-Mi-Tee"
An oft forgotten song that will get the whole car bopping along and joining in. A friend of Ichty’s popped this on one morning-after-the-night-before and in no time everyone was singing along and laughing, totally forgetting their hangovers! The perfect post party pick me up and everybody knows the words. We defy you not to be dancing in your seat by the end of it. All together now “I’m Miss Dy-Na-Mi-Tee...”
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"
When all else fails nothing brings back together a group of friends, broken by four days of constant partying (or annoys the designated driver more) than winding down the windows and belting out this classic. This hangover is a mountain, and it ain’t high enough, were getting over it, TOGETHER! Oh god, we think we might be crying... Itchy just love you guys so much! (NB. This song is essential for rally spirits at any time, Itchy had it in their head one weekend and sung it constantly. Nobody got annoyed. Everybody loved it. Honest.)
