Nicol Edwards
This is undoubtedly the best pub on the occasionally dubious Niddry Street; offering live music, three equally grimey floors and a reputation for being one of the most haunted places in Edinburgh (so sambuca isn't the only evil spirit in here). The drinks are so cheap we're almost willing to forgive the wearing of cowboy hats behind the bar – stingy buggers will love the aptly named Tight Arse Tuesdays, when pints and spirt/mixers go for just £1.50. What's more, it's open until the antisocial hour of 3am every night. We'll let you know when we find the catch.
