Mathers Bar
The bourgeoisie may be braying with excitement at Mathers cosmopolitan, gay-friendly culture, but there are some old men out there who are wandering around as if the rug's been pulled out from under their slippers. Not to be confused with the Queensferry Street bar of the same name, this place could offer them salvage. A proper pub's pub, Mathers comes complete with large screen football, open fire, standard prices, slightly dodgy pints and relatively cheap artery-clogging food. Despite all this though, it's strangely non-old-man-bar-ish, with young, usually pleasant, staff and an influx of young stylish things from the nearby call-centres. Maybe your dad should start drinking at home eh?
