The Apple Cider Co

The Apple is very into its cider. Though they do offer over 40 types of the stuff, some flavours are perhaps a little far out for some. Toffee apple cider and raspberry cider are just a few of the beverages served that may make you raise an eyebrow and maybe even a temper after one too many. They're also the only place that sells Exhibition cider. So lethal it only comes in halves. As if basking contentedly in the warming glow of cider heaven wasn't enough, the pub takes the form of a charming little boat on the waterfront, close to the likes of Bristol wonder, The Old Duke. Apple bobbing anyone?

The Old Duke

The Old Duke, named after legendary musician Duke Ellington, is Bristol's home of live jazz. Jazz is not, however, The Old Duke's only winning attraction. The outdoor seating makes it perfect for the two lazy summer evenings we get every year, and their wide selection of spirits (yes, boys and girls, we've spent a night on the absinthe here, and yes, it is in fact the devil's own piss) goes to further prove why time spent in the Old Duke makes for an excellent night on the tiles (and one hell of a liver-twistingly painful morning after).

The Coronation Tap

They claim to be Bristol's oldest and only cider pub. Oldest maybe, but as far as only -well that just depends how hard you hunt. But we will concede that this Georgian/ Regency pub is a real cider house, with Sunday being the day for traditional cider comedy involving live music at lunchtime as well as a quiz night in the evening. Yes, if your chosen tipple is bright orange brain-rot then stumble down to the Cori Tap. It's a stronger man than I who can keep up with the locals and stagger home in one piece. But not to worry -the management kindly provide a Cori-cam to capture those hilarious drunken moments that your brain has long since blanked from memory and next time you pop in you'll quite likely find a picture of your finest hour pinned to the walls. Thanks so very much for that. No food.
