Cabot Tower

There's nothing like a climb to the top of Cabot Tower to get a bird's-eye view of Bristol. Built in 1897 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's voyage to America, the 105 foot high tower offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside. Itchy particularly loves the carvings at the top which tell you the direction and distance of all the major world cities – we've never yet spied Rome on the horizon but we live in hope. The spiral staircase can become a bit giddying, but if this happens just seize the moment to start re-enacting key scenes from Vertigo and the sensation will pass.
