Very, very dark; which can be annoying for beautiful Bristolians, but is perfect for those seeking to hide a pre–date pimple or two. Let yourself be guided towards the illuminated bar until your eyes have adjusted. Sleek, stylised and with great purple pool tables. Grab a seat by the exit if you're not the fussy type –every time someone leaves they'll deposit their unfinished drinks on your table. Better still, you can converse with people on the street as they pass, luring the more attractive specimens towards you like a mythical siren of the sea. We love it –and so does most of the city judging by the bar queues on a Saturday. With interesting DJs at the weekend playing new jazz, funk and RnB, as well as a decent cocktail list, most of Bristol comes to lounge here. Fantastic in the summer as the front opens up. We like.
