The Hope
The Hope contains both a spacious ground floor pub and a sweaty airless upstairs venue, to glorious effect. Slightly removed from the lanes, it's a very brief downhill stagger from Brighton station. Because of this it is an essential staple of every student pub crawl, and is always packed with trendy, rambunctious youths. There is also no outside area to speak of. In spite of this, it retains a cosy atmosphere, plus an impressive variety of entertainment, from alternative poetry and open mic, to ska and rock, to art exhibitions, both up- and down-stairs. The pub with something for everyone.
