Lansdowne Place Hotel

A short way from central Brighton, the Lansdowne Place Hotel is seaside accomodation straight out of the old school. A recent revamp of the bar and restaurant means you can enjoy the grandeur of the Regency style without feeling out place. The area is a little quieter than the seafront, home of the majority of Brighton's larger hotels, and the calm atmosphere seems to carry over into the building. Being situated right next to the city's less crowded beaches means the hotel is better suited to a spot of slow-paced summer loafing than a full-on south coast bender, and the deck chair and picnic take room service to a new level for the terminally lazy. If you don't fancy risking your life swimming in the channel, the new spa will be completed in late summer. The predominantly French style menu is better than all but the top restaurants found in the town centre, so if a taxing day has wiped you out there is no need to stress yourself hunting for cuisine. Finish up by hitting the bar for nightcap or two, and you'll be ready to crash in the stylish luxury of your room.
