Creation Climbing Wall
There's been a massive extension since their opening in 2005. They're keen to embrace new climbers (not in a hugging-on-hillsides manner) and offer an all-welcoming Go Climb evening on Mondays; the most sensible way to dangle off the end of a rope if you're feeling lonely. You can also choose One2One sessions with your own instructor, and there's plenty for the advanced, too. A slave to the sport, Creation's even open on Christmas Day - stuff the turkey, come scramble your legs instead.

02 Dec 2009From the moment I walked up to (and then into) Creation I was disappointed. It took us 20 mins to get in and there wasnt anyone in front of us. Also, they have a thumb scanner at a rock climbing centre. hed been down. They should have spent the money on some heating. The shoes had holes in. The harness my friend hired spent about 80% of the time trying to castrate him and the ropes were either impossible to fit through my belay device or too thin to really do much good apart from stretch. The holds were so dirty. They looked like they hadnt been changed since the place opened. Plus the routes seemed to have been graded by someone who didnt have a clue. The roof leaked, the bouldering walls were shocking, there were no staff to ask about routes and the café was a death trap. There was a gas bottle attached to an open flame in a café.

20 Sep 2009This place has loads to offer. Routes are changed regularly so it never gets dull. Staff are always friendly and helpful in my experience. New bouldering area under construction, looks like it will be really impressive. Cafe is a god-send when your arms are dead, they do hot and cold food and beverages, chocolate, sweets etc. As for the cleanliness of the place, I certainly don't have any complaints; and for heaven's sake it's a climbing wall if you want sparkling clean you're in the wrong sport! - try swimming!
