Summer at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol

Theatre for all - no matter what the weather's doing.

Preview

Despite the misleading weather, it is actually summer. Right now. Which means we’re all busy making plans to escape the city for sunnier climes. Or, more likely, muddy fields in the Isle of Wight. However, it might please you to learn that there’s some really fun stuff you could be doing in Bristol over the next couple of months EVEN IF IT’S RAINING. Which by the looks of things, it will be.

Here at Itchy we’re pretty excited about what the Tobacco Factory has to offer this season. Can’t make it to Edinburgh for the festival? Don’t worry! The Bristol Brouhaha is a nine-night showcase of high-grade comedy with 22 of the 24 shows acting as previews to Scotland’s legendary August event.

If you like to keep on the cutting-edge of new theatre, you could also check out Disco Pigs in the recently developed Brewery Studios. Following success at The Old Vic and Alma Tavern, the show promises to be ‘a story of young love, growing up and growing apart.’ Furthermore tickets for the opening night on 10th July are only £5! Try it. You might like it.

But the play we’re eagerly awaiting is a new adaptation of Jerome K Jerome’s classic novel Three Men In A Boat. Originally intended as a Victorian guide to boating on the Thames, the story’s century-old humour is still relevant and takes us on a journey through a quintessentially British adventure. So join us for a yarn that harks back to an age when summer really was summer. Ah, we can dream!

Bristol Brouhaha: Friday 13th – Saturday 21st July. Each double bill show is £10 (Comedy Club 4 Kids is only £6)

Disco Pigs: Tuesday 10th – Saturday 14th July. Tickets £9 (£7) Opening night £5

Three Men in a Boat: Monday 20th – Saturday 25th August. Matinee Saturday 25th August 2.30pm. Full tickets £13 / Concession £9
