May means one thing in Brighton: the festival. And Itchy is delighted to announce that the fringe is bigger and better than ever before in 2012. With 675 events taking place at 193 venues over 3 weeks from May 5, you're spoilt for choice. That's why we've been scouting out the best of the fest - don't worry, we've got it all covered. Here are our top five free theatre events of the Brighton Fringe 2012 (Hurrah! More money to spend on beer!)

Single Cell
Where better to watch theatre about crime than in a police cell? Head to Old Police Cells Museum on May 24 and 25 at 2pm to experience a dark character driven piece. Click here to find out more.

Dip Your Toe
Theatre in a reconstructed bathing machine - could be great, could be a bit of a squash... how are we to know? Give it a chance. We reckon it'll be a laugh. Visit the Dip Your Toe for times and locations.

GreenandPleasantLand
Physical theatre, live music and folk traditions plus bicycle-powered generators equals fun for all the family at Dip Your Toe from 19 to 20 May.

In My Shoes
Experience Brighton through the eyes of someone else - just find the Big Red Van, bring along your mp3 player (or borrow one) and see Brighton like never before. Click here for some help locating the Big Red Van.

A Little Commitment
A real-life couple performing a real-time romcom? Yes please. (It probably helps that they're both comedians.) Pop to Laughing Horse @ The Quadrant from 8-12 May to catch Gareth Berliner and Kiruna Stamell. Click here for more info.
