Bullet For My Valentine

Welsh rockers can be our Valentine any day

Review

We're not gonna lie to you, this is not Itchy's usual scene. We're more into S Club than Slipknot, we'd rather see Mumford & Sons than Megadeth. But in the interests of hard-hitting journalism, we apprehensively donned a bit more black than usual and set off for Islington Academy and Myspace's Bullet For My Valentine gig.

You know what? They rocked. If one thing is for sure those guys are damn talented, and even if there was a little more screaming than we would choose to hear, they more than made up for it with their killer guitar solos and very enthusiastic headbanging.

Enthusiasm was in fact an ongoing theme, since it's not often you see a crowd of fans looking quite so fervently bug-eyed about their heroes being merely metres in front of them. But that's the charm (for want of a better word) of having a free gig with ticket holders recruited by Myspace. It means that only the really die-hard fans get to attend, and that the whole room knows every word to every song. Even the ones only released that morning.
